Erok's Blog Roll: Staying Focused Without a Win

Erok coming at you again. Well, with about half of the college season in the bag and the second half coming up, including the league tourney, the Nittany Lions have to to get out first “W”, and no one can put our finger on why.

That being said, we are taking every game for what it is and trying to learn and get better ever day. We keep telling our selves that one year when Johns Hopkins won a National Title they too started out 0-6. With all that said let me run through the first half of our season which resembled some one of a road trip to say the least.

We started the season with a tough scorefest against Robert Morris. We put up something like 18 goals, something I have never been a part of. Next we had a tightly fought game at Notre Dame in the Loftus Center. The bus ride there, as you can imagine, was 9 hours of wide open nothing. We passed the time by watching movies, Wedding Crashers and The Hangoever seem to be the team favorites. After that we then traveled to Ohio State, again another inside game that ended in an OT slug fest. We finally returned home on a Tuesday night were we fought Villanova under the lights before traveling to Rutgers where we played in what seemed to be a hurricane with game delays due to lightening and high winds 60mph and up. That brings us to this past weekend where we made the ten hour drive to Durham to battle it out with the Duke Blue Devils. The 70 degree plus weather was much needed and the venue couldn’t have been cooler. I felt like I was living my 10 year old dream of playing D1 lacrosse against Duke, then I realized I was. It was the best venue I have ever played in and the fans were no exception.

Even at 0-6 or team moral is at an all time high and we continue to get after it day in and day out to get better and get that first “W”. By no means has any one given up, that is for sure. Until next time, EROK 42.
