Sehome-Bellingham vs. Kamiak‏ - Game Report

EVERETT –Sehome-Bellingham and Kamiak squared off Friday night for the #1 spot in the Wesco/NW Conference. Hat-tricks from Mark Gannon, Nathaniel Heritage, and Jackson Zerba were the defining factors in this very physical game as the Warriors moved to 7-0 in conference play with the 12-7 victory over the Kamiak Knights.

Kamiak came into this one having put up a conference-high 158 goals on the season, and they showed just how potent their offense truly was scoring 3 goals early in the first including a nicely executed tic-tac-toe finish off a fast-break from the junior, Edwin Romero.

Sehome-Bellingham’s aggressive defense played dividends for the next 36 minutes, keeping the Warriors from getting too many inside shots, and instead, forcing deep, outside ones. Warriors’ keeper, Dakota Turgeon, ate those shots up, posting a 53% save in the process.

The momentum would shift to the Sehome-Bellingham side, scoring 6 unanswered goals in the 2nd quarter, including 2 from the junior attackman, Nathaniel Heritage. That was until Miles Craggs stopped the bleeding for the Knights, knotching one late in the 2nd off a fast-break dump and finish.

2 more goals in the 3rd quarter, and 3 more in the 4th including an absolute bullet to the top of the cage from attackman Mark Gannon were enough for the Warriors to hold off the attacking Knights, propelling them to the 12-7 victory, and more importantly, maintaining the still unblemished conference record - moving the squad to the top of the Wesco-Northwest Conference standings as we begin to approach play-off time.

The loss was Kamiak’s first of the season, but the Knights are still in perfect position for a deep playoff push. With Lynden (3-5) next on the Knight’s schedule, they’ll look to rebound and get right back on track heading into late April. As for the Warriors, they take on a rebuilding Archbishop Murphy (0-7) team on the 27th.
