1998 UW Women Lacrosse Team

Team History:
The University of Washington Womens Lacrosse Club was founded about twelve years ago by six University of Washington students. It was originally formed solely as a recreational team due to the limited number of members. In the next few years more people were drawn to the club and they became active competitors in the Pacific Northwest Lacrosse league. Past members have gone on to play with other teams in the league including Laxon and Seattle Womens Lacrosse Club.
Today the team continues to compete with other Northwest teams and also participates annually in the Western States Tournament. They are also the hosts of an annual tournament that brings together teams from the Northwest states and Western Canada. This years tournament is the ninth of its kind with nine teams participating, over a two-day period.
The 1998 team is composed of 20 players, who range in experience. There are only six returning players. Out of the other 14 players at least five are new to the sport. Despite these differences in experience they have been working very well together. They are young and dedicated and are not just working hard for this season, but for success in seasons to come.
Coach Emily Forster has been with the club for three years, and has volunteered much of her free time to developing the team into what it has become. In 1997, because of her dedication and the dedication of Assistant Coach Vinca Swanson, the team ended the season with the title of NWWLA Collegiate Champions. The team is very grateful for the time they have put into building the team.
The club is open to anyone who is a student or employee of the University of Washington. No experience is required and new players are always welcome. It is a great way to have fun and meet new people. Only dedication and a desire to be a team player are needed to participate and be successful.
