| We are steadily trying to grow
the number of HS teams in the Portland area. Lakeridge has been around for 4 years. Last
year was the first year for Glencoe and Lake Oswego (LO was combined with West Linn last
year due to a coach shortage). West Linn will be looking at their 3rd season this year and
St. Mary's and Grant their first year this year. The high schools have shown a tremendous
response / interest. Glencoe started with 14 girls last year - and have 54 signed up this
year. 42 Girls signed up to play at the St. Mary's sign up meeting ... and we expect
similary results as the other school meetings take place. The high school teams are almost
exclusively coached by Portland Women's Club members. For the 1999 Spring Season we are hoping to have girls teams started at
Grant HS, Centennial HS and possibly a split between West Lynn and Wilsonville. We are in
need of Coaches and refs for 1999 and OR HS Girls Lax Assn. is willing to train, provide
schedule, rules, regulations, manuals, and loaner equip. to interested persons. For more
