A league Recaps

With several teams on Spring break there were only three match-ups this week.
Forest Ridge climbed up the standings by winning both of their games.  On monday against Holy Names they had a strong team showing   Six different players scored making them tough to Defend.  They now find themselves in a 3 way tie for 2nd place.

The Panthers topped Overlake to take their 3rd win is as many games.  The Panthers also had strong team attack with six different players finding the net.  Five of those were multiple scorers.  Defensively they were dominant.  They allowed only four shots in  the first half.  The Panthers are one of 3 teams tied for 2nd place.  They are one of only two teams still undefeated.

Player Highlights

Joanne Krochalis scored four times to lead the Panthers in scoring in their win this week.  She also had one assist.  She has 14 goals on the year so far.

In her first ever lacrosse game, back up Panthers goalie Katie Fitzmaurice got off to a great start.  Playing only the first half, Fitzmaurice saved the only four shots taken on her to shut the owls out during her time guarding the net.

Jackie Spencer and Leslie Walker combined for 23 goals and 7 assists this week.  A three year member of the regional team, Spencer's talent is no secret.  This week she continued to show that her game is as strong as ever.  Walker is emerging as one of the leagues premier players as well.  Walker scored 13 of those 23 goals to help lead the Raiders to 2-0 for the week.

Next Weeks Match-ups of note

Bainbridge, Forest Ridge, and the Panthers are all tied for second place.  Next week will see an end to that.  Forest Ridge takes on both teams at home.

Mercer Island and Holy Names are both tied for sixth place.  Both teams will be looking for their first win of the season.

B League Recaps

At 4-1-2, Greenwood finds itself tied for first place with Bellevue which is 5-0.  This week saw the teams meet for the first time and Bellevue won decisively with a score of 15-5.  The only undefeated team in the B league, Bellevue has established itself as the team to beat this year.

Greenwood found it's other match-ups of the week to be more to their liking.  They had the better of second year team Snohomish and beat Mercer Island B by a margin of eight.  The awesome threesome, Chelsea Wong, Katy Osborne, and Sarah Bryant dominated play to lead Greenwood to a 2-1 record this week.

Eastside bettered the Panthers B team this week with Stephanie Sinclair leading the scoring with 6 of the teams 8 goals.  Againts Curtis it was Lynsey Neal leading Eastside with 5 goals.  Curtis put of a very strong fight with the winning goal coming only in the last 2 seconds.  Both teams had great showings from their goalies.

Player Highlights

Stephanie Sinclair had eleven goals this week to bring her season total to 25 which leads the B league and ties the A league scoring leader Mallory Lobisser.

Chelsea Smith was too much for Greenwood to contain in their match-up this week. She scored 7 of the teams 15 goals.  What was even more impressive was that the Bellevue squad as a whole kicked in and had ground ball contributions from every player.  That's right, every player.  Did I hear someone say ground balls win?

Katy Osborne was a key reason Greenwood won 2 out of 3 games this week.  Scoring 13 goals on the week, her total for the year is now 22.  She also has 7 assists on the year.

Kristin Brown had a strong showing in Curtis' last second loss to Eastside.  Not only did she score 5 assists but she also had an impressive 4 assists.

Next Weeks Key Match-ups

Undefeated Bellevue takes on a very strong opponent in 3-1 Kitsap.

Kitsap also takes on Eastside who trails them by one place in the standings.
