Varsity A Re-Caps

Bainbridge did nothing in week 6 but show that they are truly in charge when facing anyone in the league.  To highlight scoring is almost besides the point.  It is their defense that does it for them.  And I don't just mean defense on the defensive end.  As soon as an opponent gets the ball that is when and where they are playing defense, double and triple teaming like swarming bees.  They hit opponents from the sound of the first whistle stirring up a hurricane that doesn't let up until the final whistle blows.  Just ask Forst Ridge, Holy Names, and Seattle Prep who all faced the vikings in week 6 play.

Holy Names was able to do something against Bainbridge no other team has done this year; score 10 points.  Isabel Loe showed she is unafraid of a swarming bee hive and managed to penetrate for 4 goals.  She had help from teammates Rosy Rombauer and Emily Eisenhart with 2 each, and from Caitlin Durgan and Madeline Levesque with 1 each.  Holy Names also had a solid outing beating Greenwood 11-3.  This time it was Emily Eisenhart leading the scoring with 3.

Greenwood also faced the tough Mercer Island squad in week 6.  Mercer Island was able to over power Greenwood by a score of 15-2.  Dani Zorn led scoring for the Islanders.

Earlier in the week the Islanders had an intense match-up with then 2nd place Lakeside.  Both teams played strong defense but it was Mercer Island who allowed only 2 goals in, and it was Mercer Island who won the battle for posession to take Lakeside by a score of 4-2.  Mercer Island now holds the leagues 2nd place spot.

Lakeside had no problems coming up with the win against Bellevue. Kate Okrasinsk and Tylie Cramer led scoring with 4 each, while Emily Cramer was able to rattle the net 3 times in the Lions 17-2 win.

Bellevue continued to struggle in it's match-ups losing to Seattle Prep 18-1 and Forest Ridge 10-1.   Lauren Borucki led scoring for the Forest Ridge win.  Erica Spencer had a great showing with 2 goals along with Kate Phillips who also had 2.

B League Re-caps

Like Bainbridge, Kitsap also appears to have no challengers for top spot of the B league.  This week they took their only match-up beating the Mercer Island B team 15-2.  Krista Burleson led scoring with 5 goals and an assist.  Right on her heals in scoring was teammate Katie Younger with 4 goals and an assist.

Seattle Prep won both it's match-ups in week 6 play beating both Mercer Island and Eastside Catholic.  Kathleen Vukelich was the scoring leader for Prep in both games with 4 goals each.  Agianst Eastside Catholic Megan Burns had an impressive 3 goals along with Kristi White who had 2.  For Eastside Catholic Amy Kubacki and Kellie Burgess did the scoring.  Kubacki put in 3 while Burgess contributed 2.

Eastside Catholic had a tough Match-up earlier in the week losing 9-2 to Lake Sammamish.  This time it was Kellie Burgess who was the scorer with 2.

Lake Sammamish tied it's other match-up against Snohomish.  These two teams seem to be a great rivalry for the future as each time they meet they both have a never say die attitude.

Curtis also won both it's match-ups in week 6 beating Maple Valley 12-6 and the Raiders 14-1.  Maple Valley was able to keep it tight in the first half, but Curtis was able to pull away with 5 unanswered goals with just 4 minutes remaining on the clock.  Against the Raiders it was Heejung Choi who led scoring for Curtis with 4 goals.  Freshman Alexis Opp also got on the board 3 times for Curtis.

The Raiders also faced a tough Bainbridge Island B squad.  The Vikings came away with it by a score of 13-5.   Goalie Caitlin Frazier had major contributions by saving 17 having a 77% save ratio on the day.  For scoring it was Emily Robinson leading it with 4 goals.  Teammates Jane Baumgartner and Mary Vasta helped out with 3 and 2 respectively.
