Varsity A recaps

Overlake had a full week of games winning one and losing two.  Overlake was able to Overpower Holy Names.  Leading the way for the Owls was Anna De Regt who scored 6 of the teams 12.  Julia Hunt backed up her teammate with 4 goals on the day.  For Holy Names, Isabel Loe and Rosy Rombauer did all they could but in the end couldn't match the Overlake offense.

Forest Ridge was able to come out with the win in a tough match up against Overlake beating them by a score of 12-7.  Lauren Borucki was the high scorer on the day with 5 goals and 1 assist.  Leslie Walker scored 4 but also had an impressive 5 assists.  Overlake got help from 5 different scorers, but the Raiders were able to limit Anna De Regt to 3 and pulled away for the win.

Lakeside was able to leap frog Forest Ridge in the standings and in the process strip the Raiders of their undefeated status.  Kate Okrasinski was too much to handle in front of the goal as she was able to score 7 of the lions 17 points.  Tylie Cramer was able to contribute 3.  Key help also came in the form of ground balls.  Tess Eisenhart, Emily Cramer, Kirsten Tang, and Gracie Binder combined for 19 ground balls to help the lions dominate play.  Lakeside also beat Seattle Prep this week with goalie Erin Coltera coming up big to save 5 of 6 shots taken on her.

Mercer Island is seeing the fruits of it's labor after struggling for the last few years in the A league.  The Islanders are not only finding themselves in the win column, but they're doing it as a team.  In their win over Overlake they had 7 different scorers.  Add on top of that Goalie Kelly Nakata's 7 saves of 10 shots?  You've got a challenge.  Tara McTavish was the leading scorer against Overlake with 3 goals and an assist, while Dani Zorn led the charge against Holy Names with 3.  Zorn was only 1 of 6 scorers against the cougars of Holy Names.  Isabel Loe of Holy Names had an impressive effort scoring 5 goals.

Bainbridge still sits atop the A league and is the only team left undefeated.  Lakeside now sits in second spot having moved ahead on spot of now third place Forest Ridge.  Mercer Island rounds out the top four.

B league recaps

Kitsap beat Snohomish by a score of 12 to 2 and remains undefeated on the year so far.  Krista Burleson and Megan Lockert combined for 7 of the teams 12 goals.

Seattle Prep outscored Maple Valley for the win this week.  Despite losing, Maple Valley is gaining great experience and is made a presence of itself against the Panthers.  Ericia Feldman, Kerris Morgan, Meghan Murphy-Julius, and Sara Wiese all contributed with a goal each.

The game of the week in the B league was Lake Sammamish versus Snohomish.  The two teams slugged it out and at the end of regulation had a tied score of 8 all.  In overtime Lake Sammamish was able to score 2 and shut Snohomish out for the win.  Catherine Rodriguez scored 6 goals for Lake Sammamish.  Jessica Wang was on grounds keeping duty for the team and swept up 9 ground balls on the day.  Lake Sammamish also got strong mid-field play out of Natalia Valderrama.  Just as impressive as Lake Sammamish's win is Snohomish's showing this year in the B League.  This team is in the meat of the B League standings and is showing that a team can build itself from the ground up in a relativley short amount of time.
