A League Recap

Bainbridge jumped on Lakeside early and never looked back beating Lakeside by a score of 13-2.  Maggie Pettit and Whitney Hume did most of the scoring with key contributions coming from Jen Utley with 2 goals and 2 assists.  Christel Topel was all over the field not only scoring 2 goals but an impact defensively, on the draw, and on the ground.

In Bainbridge's second match-up of the week they were able to keep the train rolling by beating Overlake by a score of 17-4.  Bainbridge was able to get scoring from 8 different players.  Jenna Dicasparro was the high scorer for Overlake with 2 goals.  Expect Overlake to get better each time out this season.

Lakeside took on Holy Names for their second match-up of the week.  The Lions got the better of the cougars with the help of high scorer Kate Okrasinski who had 5 goals and 1 assist.  Siobha Thomas-Smith had two goals as well for the Lions but made big contributions by scooping up 6 ground balls.  Did somebody say ground balls win?  Caitlin Durgan was the high scorer for Holy Names with 2 goals on the day.

Seattle Prep had a productive week.  Let's see, they did their homework, did their chores, and oh yeah, won both their lacrosse games.  The Panthers beat Greenwood  11-3.  Laura Blangiardi scored 6 times to lead her team to victory.  Casey Myburgh was busy not just scoring but also had 5 caused turnovers, 2 draw controls, and 4 ground balls.  Sarah Kitcell scored 2 for Greenwood.  The Panthers had an impressive 10 different scorers in their 15-3 win against Bellevue.

Greenwood found Forest Ridge to be tough as well.  The Raiders beat Greenwood 10-3 getting 3 goals each from Monica McQuaid, Lauren Borucki and Leslie Walker.  Kate Phillips rounded out the scoring with 1 but also had two key assits.

Forest Ridge also hosted Holy Names this week and were able to come out on the winning end by a score of 10-5.  Scoring for the cougars was Rosy Rombauer and Isabel Loe with 2 each and Blair Buchan with 1.  Leslie Walker was too strong on the day as she matched the cougars 5 goals with 5 goals of her own.  Walker got scoring help from her teammates, and Kate Phillips and Monica Mcquaid each had 3 assists.

Mercer Island had a succesful week winning two out of two for the week.  The Islanders easily disposed of Bellevue and goalie Kelly Nakata was able to shut out Greenwood.

Varsity B

Kitsap is rolling through the B league so far this year racking up high scoring wins.  This weeks victims were Eastside Catholic and Mercer Island.

Snohomish was able to pull away in the second half after a tightly fought 1st half by Maple Valley.  Snohomish finds themselves holding 3rd place in the Varsity B league.

Bainbridge and Lake Sammamish played a closely fought match but in the end Bainbridge was able to hammer away for the lead.  Emily Robinson scored 5 on the day with Jane Baumgartner right on her heals with 4 of her own.  Goalie Caitlin Frazier had an impressive 10 saves.

Curtis and Bainbridge went at eachother  hard this week with neither team able to come out with the win.  Credit goalie Caitlin Frazier with single handedly holding off Curtis for the win with her 13 saves on the day.

In their 3rd match-up of the week Bainbridge beat Eastside Catholic by a score of 6-2.

In a De Ja Vu, Snohomish again beat Maple Valley.  This time they did so a little more convincingly by a score of 14-4.

Upcoming games of Note

Greenwood and Bellevue meet this week.  Both teams will be looking for their first win.

Lakeside takes on the team they played in last years State Championship, the Seattle Prep Panthers, as well as taking on Forest Ridge.
