Varsity A
Bainbridge Island has come out the first
week sending a message to those it will meet down the road. In a close first
half against Mercer Island, Bainbridge found itself able to pull away from
the Islanders to take a convincing win. Later in the week Bainbridge beat
Bellevue mercilessly by a score of 19-0. Bainbridge Island seems to have many
options offensively combined with an always tough defense. This equals one
big handful for opponents.
Forest Ridge was able to surprise
Seattle Prep with an also convincing win in this weeks opener for both teams.
Forest Ridge was able to dominate play in the midfield and finish effectively
finding multiple scorers from Sophomore Lauren Borucki to Seniors Leslie
Walker, Monica McQuaid, and Kate Phillips.
Seattle Prep took the next match-up of
the week against Holy Names. The Panthers were able to find their rhythm in a
10-3 win. Holy Names was unable to match the pace of the first half, but were
able to hang around impressively in the second half allowing only one goal and
saving an impressive 16 goals total.
Lakeside started their season with two
wins this week. One coming at the expense of league new comer Greenwood, with
the second over a much improved Mercer Island squad. While Mercer Island has
had and 0-2 start, they have had probably the toughest first week of any team
this season, and played the two tough teams competitively.
Varsity B
Lake Sammamish Started things off right
with a win this week over Maple Valley. Bainbridge found themselves on the
winning end of the Island match up in the B league beating Mercer Island by a
score of 7-3. Kitsap jumped all over the raiders this week showing no mercer
to the new kids on the block. The Raiders probably didn't even see what hit
them with Kitsap scoring not quite every other minute statistically to get a
score of 22-1.
In the closest game all week, Bainbridge
B beat Snohomish by a score of 8-7 showing exciting things to come for this
season. It wasn't long ago that Snohomish was a brand new team at the JV
level and now they are holding their own against an established Bainbridge
Island. Bainbridge had key play defensively out of 3rd Man Tari Cauoette.
Curtis will be an interesting team to
watch this year. They beat Mercer Island convincingly by a score of 16-7
establishing themselves as a team to beat.
