Womens Division Intercollegiate
Associates (WDIA)
This group is affiliated with USL and focuses on the growth of club
college teams across the nation. We would like to be recognized by this
association. They offer college club teams a chance to participate at Club
Nationals in St. Louis. Nationals this year takes place May 1,2,3rd.
By being a member, we will have a chance to compete and be ranked nationally,
each team would have solid information, contact with USL, and pride for their
region. This is a new association that is just beginning to become a powerful
source of information for us.
By-Laws and Mission statement for the WDIA will be posted on our
northwest website (www.walax.com). Thanks to Steph for doing this.
Web Site
We are continuing to use the Sportability program for team ranking
and stats. This year, we will extend it to our spring schedule. This is a
great tool for us! Once the schedule is posted, you will be able to view times,
location, refs and host. You will be able to click on posted information to
obtain field directions, host contact information (including phone number), and
umpire contact information.
This year we will post the schedule and any rated umpire from your
team can sign up for games they wish to ref. This gives everyone a chance to
preview the schedule and sign up for games that work into their own schedule.
You, as the umpire, will be able to click on your own names and view a schedule
of your games you signed up to ref.
Our northwest website is growing! You now will be able to get all
your lacrosse gear for great prices at www.walax.com. Qcity Lax is offering a
link that will get you in touch with all the new gear coming out (check out the
newly designed sticks). Not only are the prices great, but a portion of the
money goes to our local league chapter. This money is pooled equally between
the mens and womens chapter here in the northwest. If you are in need of team
gear, you can get a hold of Ian OHern, ([email protected]). Again, proceeds go to
our chapter here in the northwest.
Your team web sites need to be updated! Get together this fall,
write something up about your team, and include whatever you wish (photos,
etc.). Send to Steph Cone ([email protected]).
She would prefer Power Point please.
Scheduling
Responses to my emails have been great, thanks for all the input and
continued communication is always much appreciated. Again, Sportability is our
main web tool to organize our spring schedule and if you have any questions on
how to use it, contact me or Steph Cone and we will help you out. A good idea
is to ask a team member to be the team keeper, who is responsible for submitting
scores and can access Sportability to enter stats.
We hope to have a schedule out this January.
The Sweet Onion Shootout in Walla Walla, WA
will mark the beginning of the spring season, March 1 and 2. All inquires
regarding this tournament should go to Clare Creighton at
[email protected].
Bill Hander of Linfield College (west of Portland) has graciously
offered his fields for the Northwest College Club Championships. Only club
colleges are invited to play in this tournament. Tentatively the tournament
will be held April 19th and 20th.
PNLA will be held the following weekend and will go back to its
original format of pooling all teams by skill.
I believe Ive covered everything, let me
know if there is anything you would like us to address in the next meeting.
Schedulers and I will meet sometime in November again.
Thanks to everyone, and I hope to make this
season competitive and fun for all teams!
Vinca
