It
was a good game.
The weather seemed nice; sunny, calm, and boring. However, by game time, it had turned darker and more
threatening until the first draw of the game signaled the beginning.
Both the Greenwood and North Kitsap teams came out strong
initially and seemed to hold to that standard throughout the game.
During the first quarter of the game, both teams' scores were
relatively close. Yet after a short time-out called by Greenwood, Greenwood
began to pull ahead. After
half time, Greenwood only strengthened their lead, finishing the
game at 10-4. Bridget
Lavelle, the Greenwood goalie did a remarkable job in goal,
deflecting the majority of North Kitsap's shots.

Brousseau and past Regional Player Carolyn Marshall.
Holden scored for Vashon and was chased by Mercer players at
the end of the game ending with a giant pig pile on her! Overall a fun and exciting game that diplayed great
sportmanship!!!!! Mercer
JV played Evergreen winning 14 - 0.
Evergreen did extremely well considering all new players to
the game. |

16 - Bellevue 7 |
Bellevue's
recap: Lakeside took a hefty lead in the first half of the game
outplaying Bellevue with their excellent passing, catching and
cutting. Despite
Bellevue's effective double teams at the 12m and 8m Lakeside
repeatedly managed effective close to goal cuts to receive the pass
and get the shots off. In
the second half Bellevue outscored Lakeside and was able to close in
on Lakeside's cuts to prevent the shots on goal however the first
half lead was too much for the Wolverines to handle. |

Curtis
High School 11 - Mercer Island C 7 |
it
was a slow start for curtis...taking almost 5 minutes to score the
first goal. (we're gonna blame it on the bus ride) =) but the quick
mercer island team forced curtis to wake up and the game them
shifted into full gear. mercer island ran curtis hard...curits's
defense did most of the work in the game. players that ran hard to
keep m.i from scoring included melanie newport, nina polkinghorn,
nikki dejbod and tory tyler. mercer island's coach proved to be kind
and encouraging...full of spirit for the game. it was awesome to
play them. |

Eastside
showed a positive and unfailing display of sportmanship.
Their goalie handled many shots on goal and still came out
smiling. Their
enthusiasm was a tribute to the game of Lacrosse and we look forward
to seeing this team grow. |

The
Curtis Viks played a great first game! First time goalie Alida
Dooling had 10 saves, and was backed up by a quick defense in the
second half. Fran Shipp shined with 11 goals, and was backed up by a
superb offense. They
ran hard. Bellevue played a great game, making a big comeback in the
second half. A great way to start the season! |

Bainbridge
Recap:Bainbridge faced a tough defensive team in Mercer Island.
Ground balls were the key to the win - 42 ground balls for
the game. Bainbridge
Goalkeeper Ali O'Connor made 12 solid saves . Mercer Island Recap: What a night having a triple header
with Bainbridge. Our
girls playing on JV second team were nervous for their first game. They had a blast! Our
JV team won against Bainbridge 8 - 4 our first win ever against
Bainbridge in 4 years!!!! Our
V defense put up an incredible challenge to Bainbridge's offense
who's passing and drives to goal were constant and so well done.
Our offense continually being double and triple teamed by
Bainbridge gave us little time to react.
Overall a really fun team to play and a pleasure to
continually learn from for future games. |

Island 10 - Greenwood 1 |
Mercer
Island Girls played an incredible passing game through torrential
rain storm that was blowing sideways. Greenwood players put a great
challenge despite the weather and field conditions.
Our first year goalie did a great job fending off many shots
on goal, keeping Greenwood at bay.
Though fans and players were freezing we all enjoyed the true
Pacific Northwest game of Lacrosse! |
