SFU Wins 1999 PNCLL Title

Division 2 Final: Whitman had revenge in mind after losing a double-o.t. heart-breaker to PLU during the regular season, and atoned for that defeat with a 20-5 shellacking of the Lutes on Friday night. CJ Calvert, with 8 goals for Whitman, was named the game's MVP. Whitman jumped to a 7-0 lead by the end of the 1st quarter, and the outcome was never in doubt.

Div. 1 Final: Simon Fraser blew open a close game late in the second period and cruised 16-9. Western, as always, played the Clansmen tough up to a point, but SFU's overwhelming talent advantage would not be denied. Andy Martin, Defensemen, was the game's MVP.

HS Exhibition: The closest game of the weekend saw the Wa. HS All-Stars lead throughout until a spirited come-back in the 4th period by Lakeridge was capped by the tying goal with under two minutes remaining. The All-Stars scored the game winner with less than a minute remaining to escape 9-8

PNCLL Final: Whitman played well -- especially Ernie Burgess in Goal, but was simply overmatched by SFU, who cruised to the 21-8 victory. Peter Morgan, SFU's 6'7" Attackman was the MVP with 4 goals and two assists.

Whitman is off to the NIRSA club lax tourney in Austin, Texas to represent the PNCLL, while SFU hopes the third time in St. Louis is the charm. Simon Fraser reached last year's semi-final, before losing to eventual champ California.
