Welcome to Fort Lewis College

Dear Northwest Lacrosse players,

Let me take a few minutes to tell you about Fort Lewis College, and more specifically the lacrosse program. Fort Lewis College, a liberal arts school of 4,000 students,  sits on a mesa overlooking the City of Durango and the 13,000-foot peaks of the La Plata Mountains. The college's distinctive architecure of custom-chiseled sandstone reflects the heritage of the Southwest Colorado's prehistoric Pueblo Indians, whose ancient pueblo ruins can be found throughout the region. The surrounding  mountains provide many different activities ranging from camping, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, and much more. Our campus is located 25 minutes from Purgatory resort, a ski mountain with over 2,000 vertical feet and 95 trails. Other nearby ski resorts include Wolf Creek (which holds the distinction for the most snow in Colorado) and  Telluride.
The Fort Lewis Lacrosse Club was established in the early 1980's. Since the teams formation, the sport of lacrosse in Colorado and the FLC team has experienced significant growth.

In their first season as a USILA associate member team, competeing in the Rocky Mountain Inter-Collegiate Lacrosse League (RMILL), Fort Lewis finished 7-3. This earned the team a playoff birth, where they fell  in the RMILL semi finals. As a result, Fort Lewis finished fourth out of twelve teams in the league. FLC Lacrosse also earned national respect by finishing the season tied for #20 in the USILA Associate Member National ranking poll. Further recognition was bestowed upon the team when Marc Failer, Pete Carroll, and Jay Erickson were all voted to the first team All RMILL for 1998.

FLC competes in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Lacrosse League, traveling all through Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and into California. The team is well supported by the student body who just recently voted to increase their budget. FLC plays a 14-17 game schedule in the spring, with the ultimate goal to go to the National Tournament,  as well as competing in several tournaments in the fall.
