Bradleys four goals not enough as Ducks lose to
Retrievers.
BALTIMORE The East Coast hasnt
been kind to the Oregon womens lacrosse team this week. The Ducks lost
their third straight Friday, a 14-11 decision to Maryland-Baltimore County
before 300 fans at UMBC Soccer Stadium.
Oregon dropped to 2-8 on the season while UMBC picked up its first win to
move to 1-4.
Oregons Jana Bradley (Encinitas, Calif.) led all scorers with four goals
and one assist while Jen May (Davidsonville, Md.) added three goals.
Louisa Dorsch started for Oregon, allowing nine goals and recording eight
saves in the first half. Freshman Allison OBrien played the entire second
half and gave up five goals to go with four saves.
For the game, UMBC outshot Oregon 39-25.
Ali Levendusky put UMBC ahead for good at 2-1 at the 5:38 mark of the first
half. UMBC built a 4-1 lead, but the Ducks would not go away as Bradley
scored two goals about one minute apart and Kate Fleming cut UMBCs lead to
9-7 the score at the half with a goal on a pass from Lindsay Pittard
with two minutes left.
Kate Worthington (four goals), who scored UMBCs ninth goal with 3:31
remaining in the first half, scored UMBCs first three goals of the second
half, each time giving the Retrievers a three-goal cushion.
Oregon returns to Eugene for several days before heading back to the East
Coast next week as it will take on North Carolina next Friday and Davidson
the following day.
