St. Paul's School

Former Seattle Area HS Player Scores 8 goals back east!

CP Waite, former Overlake standout, who is now attending St.Paul's Boarding School in New Hampshire had an incredible 8 goal performance last week to help his team beat Milton Academy. The write up of the game is below.

St. Pauls Boys Team 18, Milton Academy 15

4/24/2002

The SPS boys lacrosse team picked up a victory in a high-scoring offensive battle at Milton Academy. The Big Red outscored Milton, 5-4, in the final quarter to earn an 18-15 win.

The game started well for the Big Red as the team jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead largely on the wheels of speedy Adam Dann '02 (2g, 2a) who scored two quick goals to get the team going. The pace was quick throughout as SPS led 6-2 at the end of one quarter and 8-5 at the half. But the feisty Milton team refused to give in as the game tightened in the third and fourth quarters with Milton eventually taking a 14-13 lead.

Behind an impressive transition game involving C.P. Waite '02, who scored an incredible eight goals on the day including the team's final six, SPS made its final move at the right time and took control of the game in the waning minutes of play. Colin Koch'02 added a goal and three assists, Mackswell Dickson '04 scored two goals and added an assist and Al Stevenson '03 scored three goals and dished out two helpers. Jon Landry '02 and Mike O'Neil '03 added a goal apiece for the Big Red.

The defense, led by goalie Chuck Culp '02 (15 saves) killed some crucial penalties down the stretch, including a critical two-man-down situation. In addition to Waite, Dann, and Stevenson, SPS also got fine play from Mike Halitzki '02 (2a). Nick Jones '04 was all over the field, scooping up eight ground balls and winning six of nine face-offs. Landry picked up 10 ground balls to lead the way in that department. SPS improved to 2-3 overall.
