Whitman College hosted the annual Sweet Onion Shootout women's collegiate lacrosse tournament on March 2nd and 3rd. Eleven teams gathered in the Walla Walla sunshine from Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. Most teams played four games with teams of about their playing level. University of Montana left the weekend with the best record of four wins, no losses and no ties. University of Washington and the Whitman ""A"" team followed, each with three wins, no losses and one tied game. Whitman ""A"" and University of Washington also scored the most goals of the weekend at 34 goals each, followed by Linfield at 31 goals. Whitman's women's lacrosse is working towards an increasingly distinguished tournament in Walla Walla. Next year we are planning on hiring some referees and hoping to attract more teams from the Northwest.
