A tough road lies ahead for the 2005 University of Oregon Mens
Lacrosse team. The Ducks finished 8th in the USLIA last season, and
this season is looking to be just as challenging. Oregons schedule
consists of 14-regular season games, and 7 of those games will be
against opponents ranked in the Top 25.
The Ducks will host Pacific Lutheran University in their season
opener on Saturday, February 19th. The following weekend, two more
home games are scheduled in Eugene; Oregon will play #23 Chico State
on Friday, February 25th. The following Sunday, #15 Simon Fraser
University will also make the trip to Eugene to play the Ducks.
Simon Fraser and Oregon have played each other in the last two PNCLL
championship games. In 2003, Simon Fraser won 7-6, and Oregon 19-9
last year. The 2004 regular season game in Vancouver, BC was the first
time Oregon beat Simon Fraser and Simon Frasers first ever home loss.
The score was 9-8.
The Ducks have some difficult road games scheduled as well, travelling
to Washington, California, and Michigan. On March 19, Oregon will play
#4 ranked Sonoma State. The next day, the Ducks drive down to San Luis
Obispo to play #11 Cal Poly. Oregon will also be attending the
Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan where they will play #6
Michigan, #9 Colorado, and #21 Florida.
The Ducks play their last regular season game on April 23 at home
against Oregon State. This years game is likely to be pivotal in the
PNCLL playoff race. Last years game decided the top 3 seeds.
The Ducks have their sights set on another trip to the PNCLL finals,
held in British Columbia, Canada. Oregon is also ready to do what it
takes to make it to the USLIA championship tournament, held this year
in Blaine, Minnesota.
