Boston, Mass. Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today the order for its Expansion Draft, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. The leagues Expansion Draft takes place via conference call on November 1, 2005. The MLL will expand to four new cities in 2006: Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco. All four teams will take part in the Expansion Draft. In addition, the draft order for the 2006 Supplemental and Collegiate Drafts was determined. All ten teams will take part in those two drafts.

A selection draft order was determined at random, allowing Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, in that order, to select which picks in which of the three drafts (Expansion, Supplemental, Collegiate) they wanted.

Chicago chose first, taking the first overall selection in the 2006 Collegiate Draft. Denver chose second, taking the second overall selection in the 2006 Collegiate Draft. Los Angeles and San Francisco rounded out the first round of selections, taking the first and second overall picks in the 2006 Expansion draft respectively. The process was repeated, reversing the order each time, until the first four slots in each of the 2006 Collegiate, Supplemental, and Expansion Drafts were determined. The order among the Expansion Teams is reversed in each Draft round.

THINK YOU'RE GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY MLL!

With four teams getting ready to join Major League Lacrosse for next season, there is no better time to become a player! Those players who are not currently playing on an MLL team have just one way to jump on board for next season - register for the Supplemental and Expansion Drafts!!

MLL will be holding both an Expansion draft and Supplemental draft this November and January, respectively. If you are interested in playing in the MLL in 2006, you MUST re-register to maintain your eligibility.

Only those players ages 21 and over may register for the draft.

THERE ARE NO OPEN TRYOUTS. YOU MUST BE DRAFTED OR CLAIMED BY A MLL TEAM TO PARTICIPATE IN TRAINING CAMP.

Print out and complete the registration form for the 2006 MLL Supplemental/Expansion Draft. You must complete this form if you wish to participate in the 2006 season. Forms must be submitted no later than October 28, 2005.

If you have any questions about your current status or eligibility please contact John Algie at (617) 746-9980 or [email protected].
