Vandals Alum, Brian Johnson Named USLIA All-American!!

Headline News

Washington Lacrosse News

Maple Valley Vandals Alum Brian Johnson was named to the 2005 USLIA Men's "A" Division All-American Third Team at the midfield position. Johnson, a Junior co-captain of the Sonoma State University Seawolves and recently named to the WCLL "A" Division's First Team at midfield, helped to lead his squad into the finals of the USLIA Men's "A" Division Championships where they fell to defending champion UC Santa Barbara 8 - 7. On their way to the finals, the fourth seeded Seawolves navigated through Utah in the first round (a 15 - 3 cruise); Colorado University in the quarterfinals (an 8 - 7 nail biter in 3 OTs with Johnson getting 1 goal and the game winning assist); and Florida State in the semifinals (a 21 - 6 blowout that saw Johnson score a goal but play limited time due to a badly sprained ankle). In the final and notwithstanding his ankle injury, Johnson managed to log a gutty performance scoring 1 goal and putting a lot of pressure on the UCSB goalie. Brian is the son of Craig and Vonnie Johnson of Maple Valley and is a 2002 graduate of Tahoma Senior High School.
