US LACROSSE ANNOUNCES YOUTH EQUIPMENT AND PCA
WORKSHOP GRANT WINNERS
BALTIMORE - US Lacrosse has once again teamed
with the lacrosse manufacturing industry and the
Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to benefit youth
lacrosse players. US Lacrosse and leading equipment
manufacturers and retailers have awarded Youth
Equipment Grants to 14 programs across the country.
Seven US Lacrosse regional chapters and three
additional youth programs will benefit from PCA
Workshop Grants, awarded by US Lacrosse in
conjunction with the PCA.
Established thanks to an endowment following the
1998 International Lacrosse Federation World
Championships hosted by US Lacrosse, the Youth Grant
Program awards grants of equipment to first-year
girls' and boys' youth lacrosse programs with
demonstrated financial need in developing lacrosse
areas throughout the country. The four boys' grants,
four girls' grants and six combination grants
represent more than a 100 percent increase over last
year's total of six awarded grants.
US Lacrosse is in its third year of partnership
with the Stanford University-based PCA, which
operates to change the culture of youth sports to
improve the experience of athletes of all ages. The
organizations teamed to award 10 PCA Workshop
Grants, up from eight last year and six in 2001.
Valued at $1,000 each, grants cover a one-day
workshop, associated materials, and travel costs for
the PCA facilitator.
"We're very fortunate to have as partners
organizations that are as committed to developing
youth lacrosse as the PCA and the lacrosse equipment
industry," said Jennifer Allen, director of
programs.
