The Panthers Lacrosse Club defeated perennial power Bainbridge High Girls 11-10 to win the Western States Lacrosse Tournament at Stanford University on Sunday April 14th in Palo Alto, California. Captains Jessica Verrilli, Noelle Anderson, and Chelsea Hansen received the team's tournament award from Michele Uhlfelder, Stanford University Women's Division 1A Varsity Head Coach.

The Panthers went 5-1 overall for the weekend which included an 8-3 win against the 2001 Western States champs and local powerhouse Holy Names Academy in the semi-final game earlier that day.

The Panthers are a team of high school girls from Seattle Prep who played in their inaugural tournament against high schools from California and Washington. Varsity Coach Stephanie Cone and assistant Gail Loveland watched their girls continually improve after a first round loss to runner up Bainbridge and then best them in the final game.

This is the Panthers second year playing as a Varsity division team. This week's league games will be played at the Panthers' home field at Sand Point Monday against Bainbridge Island (tie 8-8) and Wednesday against Lakeside.
