US WORLD TEAM VISITS SEATTLE!

The US Lacrosse Washington State Chapter hosted with the Bainbridge Island Lacrosse Club members of the US World Team during the weekend of February 23rd. The team members conducted youth clinincs in Seattle, participated in an exhibition game with area men's club players and hosted an evening clinic at Bainbridge Island.

Over 60 high school and middle school boys from the Seattle area showed up to get tips from a group of World Cup lacrosse players.  Showing off their championship college skills were; Tim Knowles (defense Duke 99),  Matt Striebel (middie Princeton 01), Scott Doyle (middie Georgetown 01),  and Chris Lamonica (goalie Hartford 97).  All 4 players were selected to go to Perth Australia this summer representing the United States to defend their title in the World Cup Lacrosse Championships. In addition Kris Snider , President Washington State High School Boys Lacrosse league coached a group of attack players at the clinic and holds a summer boys lacrosse camp on Bainbridge Island.

The Bainbridge clinic was organized by Matt Cone, President Washington State Lacrosse and Erik Smith, Boys High School League referee scheduler and was sponsored by US Lacrosse with underwriting from JP MorganChase..  The boys had 2 intensive 2 hour sessions with the World Cup players drilling and giving away their best techniques on defense, offense, goal tending and shooting.  The evening ended with a 6V6 round robin tournament for bragging rights before the raffle give away of great lacrosse gear. Getting the latest tips from this group of top ranked college players was great way to kick off the spring lacrosse season that starts next week.  Chef Rick Preble and crew put their classy touch on a barbecue dinner at the half time break.
