Seattle Girls School Awarded US Lacrosse National Youth Grant -

The first girls team in our area to receive a lacrosse equipment grant!

Sarah Bergman, head coach of the newly formed Seattle Girls School lacrosse team, reports that the national US Lacrosse has chosen her team as a recipient of their Youth Grant. The grant includes:  25 field sticks, full goalie outfit, two dozen balls, a ball bag, 25 mouth guards, and a goalie helmet, a total value of $1,100!

Bergman says she was ecstatic to learn that her team won the award.   When she set out to form the team, the high costs of equipment was more than the school was prepared to pay.  With the removal of that obstacle she can form the team and continue to spread the good word about lacrosse to the youth in the Seattle area.

Background of the US Lacrosse Youth Grant:  For more info: US Lacrosse

Following the successful 1998 International Lacrosse Federation World Championship hosted and coordinated by US Lacrosse, an endowment was established to support an ongoing US Lacrosse Youth Grant Program. The purpose of the fund is to award annual grants of equipment to first-year girls and boys youth (ages 15 and under) lacrosse programs with demonstrated financial need in developing lacrosse areas throughout the country.
