PNCLL 2006 kick-off with games this weekend!

PNCLL Conference Schedule

Feb 04, 2006  WWU 7  SFU  17 WWU 1:00pm
Feb 04, 2006  Puget Sound 3 Gonzaga  14 Mason MS  1:00pm
Feb 05, 2006  PLU 11 (OT) Gonzaga 10 Mason MS  12:00pm

Speculation as to what new head coach, Adam Lent will do with Western Washington, but a few new players including Noah Symington from MI will add a little to the pot.  Western lost some heartbreaker games last year, to both UPS and PLU.  Simon Fraser returns a cast of good players led by Junior Attackman Christians, who was named to the PNCLL 1st All Conference team, led the PNCLL in goals (47) and tied for the league lead in points (65) in 2005. Midfield leader Patrick Corrigan was drafted by the NLL for Calgary Roughnecks but decided to hold off turning pro to return to the SFU lacrosse club for this 2006 season.  This should be an interesting week!

Gonzaga travels to Tacoma to get after UPS and PLU looking to get some early wins.  According to Dan Wishengrad, "On Saturday, the Zags take on the Loggers in a game that may answer a number of questions about these two teams' potential form for 2006. Both made the playoffs last season, but both failed to make it out of the first round. Head Coach Rick Kladis has some nice returning players including Aaron Niehauser at Midfield, Ben Stein on Attack and Lachlan MacLean on Defense, but he won't have that Kladis guy to quarterback the offense for the first time in four years. Puget Sound also has some talented returners, led by Chris Andree and Scott McAmis on offense. But UPS is also reportedly quite thin on experienced players, so it may take a few games for Head Coach Kyle Berggren to assimilate the youngsters into the flow and gain this year's squad the needed exposure to game conditions. Taking on A-Division playoff teams will likely prove a baptism under fire this week and next for the Loggers, but should help the squad prepare for a grueling PNCLL B Division later on."  Stay tuned for scores and recaps!
