Week Two: Week in Review: It’s finally here!
The 2001 high school season opened with the Jamboree over the
weekend. With Lakeside and
Overlake unable to attend the Jamboree still included 19 different teams
participating as Bellevue, Mercer Island, Port Angeles and Bainbridge
had JV squads competing as well. Highlights from the weekend included
the debut of the Seattle Metro Team: Panthers Lacrosse Club as well as the
green and gold of Roosevelt. Both
clubs appeared to have a good turnout and seem ready to make some noise
in the “B” division! Bainbridge Island kicked off their
season with a showcase match-up against Century out of the Oregon High
School League. Showing why
they are Washington’s defending state champs, the Spartans got on the
board early and jumped to a 9-0 lead.
The scoring was well spread and the game ended 14-4.
Scoring for Bainbridge was as follows: Preview
of Upcoming Week:
The season truly kicks into full swing as every
team opens play this week. Defending “B” champions Maple Valley and
“B” runner-up Nathan Hale waste no time getting initiated into the
“A” league with games against state runner-up Lakeside and defending
state champs Bainbridge respectively. Port Angeles has a full slate for the week as they
open with 3 games in 4 days including the only inter-division game of
the week against Eastside. Let the games begin…Keep an Eye on…
Should be war as the two sides know each other well. A rematch of last year’s “B” final, this will be the first of many battles as “A” league foes!! |
