Youth Lacrosse of Washington Minutes for December 9, 2003 Meeting Items Discussed: 1) Scheduling: - All roster sizes (for new teams) to be submitted to your division rep and to Tim House no later than January 5th - Todd Thorpe will send out current schedules to everyone. Please look them over carefully to make sure these schedules work for your teams and fields. - The schedules are going to be finalized at our next meeting on January 13th.
2) The following positions were filled on our board: - Cascade Rep 7&8: Dave Mutzel, Maple Valley - Olympic Rep 7&8: Ty Evans, Bainbridge - Scheduling Rep: Todd Thorpe, Tacoma - Referee Rep: Scott Wiley, Issaquah * Secretary: Unfilled - Treasurer: Richard Burke, Eastside - Cascade Rep 5&6: Mark Cornelison, Maple Valley - Olympic Rep 5&6: John Crowley, Bainbridge - Championship Game Coordinator: Ty Evans
* If you know of a parent or grandparent who would like to be involved in our program please let Tim House know.
3) Our next meeting for all members is January 13th 2004, at TOPS Seward (2500 Franklin Avenue, Seattle, in the library). ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LEAGUE THIS YEAR!!
4) There is a coaching and refereeing clinic on the weekend of January 25th, it is strongly recommended that you attend. Check the website for more details.
5) 5 & 6th - It was suggested that a jamboree take place for 5 & 6 during the playoff time. - Todd was going to piggy the 5 & 6 schedule with the 7 & 8 for teams with both 7&8 & 5&6 programs. For 5&6 teams which dont have a 7&8 team they will get set up a schedule independently with other 5&6 teams. - 5&6 teams are instructional. Coaches my have to referee games and are encouraged to stop games to give advise on penalties they see or other game situations.
6) Refereeing - It has been suggested having certified high school students help with the refereeing, especially for 5&6. - One referee for 7&8 regular season games and 2 referees for playoff games, this needs to be worked out with the Referees Association. - A laminated card was suggested so that we could give it to the referees before games. The card would contain rules which are important to the coaching of our games.
7) League Dues ($35.00 for each team participating in the league) will be collected at the January 13th meeting.
