                                                    Youth Lacrosse of Washington

Minutes for May 20, 2003 Meeting

 1) Please send Weston Butt [email protected] (Maple Valley) and Dan Macca  [email protected] (Vashon) your 8th grade players names and their skill level for the LAX Fest game.  LAXfest is June 12th at Mercer Island HS Stadium.

2) Our next meeting is tentatively planned for September 30th at TOPS Seward.  If you have a new parent contact or coach please e-mail Tim House that information so he can keep our information current.

3) In our continuing efforts to keep this an instructional league.

We discussed some various options which would be implemented next year.

            a. Separate players from spectators and parents. Ratified

b. For 5th & 6th teams the coaches should interrupt play and give

instruction to a player (if they deem it necessary) whether the

referee has made a call or not, with plays concerning safety or

     continued violation by player.

            c. Playoff format to remain a draw system unless numbers of teams

dictate otherwise.  Air of cooperation prevails with coin flips if

                necessary.

            d. Possibly make up a list of pertinent rules to 5,6,7 & 8,  and get

them laminated so we can go over them with the referees and

                 players readily before each game.

            e. Offset play off games so they dont all occur on the game days,

causing difficulty finding refs and fields.

            f.  Provide championship hat or shirt to winning team of the league.

4) I need to hear from the following teams who were not at the meeting regarding repayment of referee fees: Tacoma and Snohomish.   Everyone except two teams left the money in our treasury.  Please let me know by June 6th or we will keep it in the treasury.

5) Ty Evans will be reimbursed $90.00 for champion day shirts by Gail Shelton.

6) Matt Hipps, Tim House, Kris Snider and Steve Wisman will review High School bylaws to see if we can adapt them to youth league.   We will work on those as a group in the fall.

7) Agenda for the fall meeting:

            -Referee requirements and fees

            - Bylaws

            - Objectives and appropriate rules for 2004

            - Play off format
