The Overlake School
Team Bio: The Overlake School is the smallest School in the A League.
It is a private high school of 250 students dedicated to the development
of the whole student. To that end
the school has an appropriate dedication to fielding teams of excellence in all
sports. Lacrosse is no exception.
After a few years of rebuilding its program the Owls are back.
Thanks to the coaching of its Middle School program the Owls have a
feeder program that will keep its lacrosse efforts at a level to match its
larger opponents. This year the Owls are rich in experience.
Returning starters include 7 seniors and 5 juniors. This is a maturity
and level of play that Overlake has not seen in many years.
Key losses include last year's leader on defense Matt McMurrer and high
scorer and All-League 2nd Team Attack, CP Waite.
McMurrer will replaced by two seniors Nick Bay and Paul Birkeland, both
of whom saw significant playing time last year. However, a very strong defense
will be lead by All-league candidates John Hart (Early admit to Kenyon College,
a NCAA D-3 National team last year) and Jeff Lynch, a team captain.
Luke Boswell is the goalie with spirit.
An attackman 2 years ago, Boswell shifted under duress (because the coach
needed someone to play the position) to goalie and has made a mark.
As another team Captain he will set the standard for A League goalkeepers
for he 2001 season...MARK MY WORDS. The
midfield will be lead by seniors Captain Gavin Gaudette and (Vail team player)
Will Nelson. Juniors Jake Dedoyard,
Adam Nordin, Ben Cohen and the the speedster soph. Kirk Thorson will make it
difficult for Overlake's opposition to stay close at the midfield.
Having lost all of last year's starting attack, this is the Owl's
challenge position. Henry Quehrn,
while not a starter last season has grown into a starting role.
Young up comer Charlie Kenyon and junior Broderick Smith will round out
the starting attack.
