SCOREBOARD

RECAPS

Another regular season in the books! Garfield produced another win for a Division II team over a Division I squad. Division II teams were 8-4 against Division I competition for the season! The playoffs are set and we are now a week away from crowing two more champions at Seahawk Stadium, May 22nd.

DIVISION I

**No major drama the final week, but certainly a few key games that decided the final playoff positioning. Seattle Prep knocked off Nathan Hale early in the week to eliminate the Raiders from playoff contention. The Panthers then watched intently the outcome of the Eastside/Bainbridge match-up as a Raven win could have meant a mini-playoff between Bainbridge and Seattle Prep to decide the Sound Conference champion.

**Bainbridge made sure there was no need for a tie-break by pulling out a tight 6-5 victory over Eastside. The Ravens jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an early goal by Greg Bearson. The Spartans rebounded and methodically stretched to a 6-3 lead by the 4th. Eastside showed heart battling back to cut it to 6-5. With just under a minute left, Bainbridge took a penalty. Man-up for the final ticks, Eastside just couldnt find the back of the net and the Spartans hung on.

**Eastside will get another shot at the Spartans as they turn around and travel to Bainbridge for a Wednesday night semi-final, playoff match-up. Mercer Island will host Seattle Prep in the other semi-final.

DIVISION II

**With Eastside and Curtis moving up to Division I, one knew there would be at least two new teams in the Division II playoffs this year. As it turns out, there would be only two new teams as every other team that made the playoffs in 03 is back in 04. The two new teams are first timers Klahowya and Eastlake. There was however a fair bit of drama in deciding the playoff positioning.

**Vashon wrapped up an undefeated regular season, and thus the #1 seed in the playoffs with 2 more wins to finish 10-0.

**Issaquah and the Roughriders played yet another close ball game. Issaquah prevailed 5-3 to put both teams at 8-2. Since the teams split their regular season contests and had identical conference records the crowning of the Evergreen Conference came down to tie-breaker #3, head-to-head goal differential. Issaquah won the tie-break +1 based on the 11-10 combined scores in the teams two match-ups.

**Overlake finished their season undefeated within the Pacific Conference and 8-2 overall. Overlake lost to Issaquah early in the season, thus Issaquah is the #2 seed and Overlake gets #3.

**Klahowya was originally forced to forfeit two games early in the season. The ruling was since overturned and the penalty reduced to a forfeiture of only 1 game. Thus, the Eagles finished 6-4 and earned a much deserved, first ever playoff spot. Klahowya finished tied with S. Kitsap, but wins the tie-break on head-to-head goal differential. The Eagles actually beat S. Kitsap both times this season, but the early season match-up was determined to be the before mentioned forfeit. By virtue of the Olympic Conferences 4-6 record in cross-conference games, Klahowya wins the tie-break over Eastlake (Pacific Conference was 3-7 in cross-conference games) to earn the #5 seed.

**Congratulations to the other playoff newcomers as Eastlake earned a berth in their inaugural season. They did so by going 4-1 the 2nd half of the season and defeating two teams (San Juan and Mukilteo) that had beaten them earlier in the year.
