RECAPS

A great opening week deserves another right? You got it! Week #2 is brought to you by the word parity. Yes, all the growth here in Washington is leading to a balance in power. More proof of that growth: Whatcom Lacrosse Club, comprised of players from the Bellingham area played its first game, an exhibition against Eastlake. Talent is spread across the conferences and between Divisions. By seasons end traditional powers Bainbridge and Mercer Island may still prove to be top dogs, but it wont come without a fight and a wealth of surprises throughout the league.

DIVISION I

**Eastside 10, Seattle Prep 9Third time wasnt a charm for the Panthers. A week after pulling a mighty upset of Bainbridge and playing in their 3rd straight overtime game, Prep fell short at the hands of the Ravens. DIs leading point scorer, Jack Andrews ended it in OT with his 4th goal of the night. The win puts the Ravens in a tie for first atop the Mountain Conference heading into a showdown with Mercer. If Eastside can continue to win the games it should win, they now seem a sure bet for the playoffs.

DIVISION II

**The biggest news of the week comes from the Roughriders LC who demonstrated that the line between Division I and Division II might not be quite as distinct as it once was. The Roughriders defeated metro rival Lakeside 11-7. Defense is certainly still the teams strength, but they are beginning to find some more options on offense.

**Vashon and Issaquah each notched another two victories, each by double digits. Both teams sit at 3-0. Dane Loraas continues to lead Vashons charge leading all of Division II with 16 goals in 3 games. Vashon continues to be an early season surprise. The surprise isnt that they are winning, rather that they have been so dominant!

**Despite neither victory counting towards playoff standings, Eastlake notched its first and second ever wins for the new program. Congratulations to the Wolves! Job well done.

TOP PERFORMERS

EASTSIDE RAVENSSo, Seattle Prep beat Baibridge, Eastside beat Seattle Prephmmcant wait for that Eastside vs Bainbridge match-up. Once again Jack Andrews led the way this week for the Ravens. But the black and red clad Ravens also got 3 goals from James Anderson, 2 from Ian Lee, 1 from Steve Rowe and 20 saves from Erik Yaap in a big 10-9 OT win over Seattle Prep.

DEREK MILLS, JR, Midfield, ROUGHRIDERS LC... Mills is still the unquestioned leader on the offensive side for the Roughriders. He demonstrated as much once again with 4 goals, 1 assist and 13 groundballs in a MBLL win over DI rival Lakeside.

SHANE ONEIL, SO, Attack, SEATTLE PREPOnly a sophomore, ONeil is already establishing himself as a top attackman. Combined with fellow sophomore Andrew Parietti, the league may have its hands full with this duo for a while. As one opposing DI coach put it, "That Shane ONeil is becoming quite a player." Shane had an 8 goals and 2 assists for a 10 goal week including a 5 goal performance in a 15-14 OT win over Nathan Hale.

ALEX CRAIGHEAD, JR, Attack, VASHON...Alex one-upped his fellow line mate Dane Loraas with a 5 goal, 3 assist performance to lead the way in a big win over S. Kitsap. Craighhead sits amonst the league leaders with 16 total pointshalf of which he had in the win over S, Kitsap alone.

GAMES TO WATCH

3/30 Eastside @ Mercer IslandBattle for first place in the Mountain Conference. Can the Ravens show they are truly ready to challenge for the DI title? Last time Eastside won at Mercer was in the spring of 2000.

3/30 Garfield @ Roughriders LCTwo teams split a year ago. Garfield is hungry to get back on track after loss to Vashon. Roughriders coming off a big win over DI opponent, Lakeside.

4/1 Garfield @ Issaquah2nd big game of the week for the Bulldogs. Two teams havent met since inaugural seasons back in 01.

4/2 Bainbridge @ Mercer IslandBest match-up in the state for the last 3 years running.
