NOTES & REVIEW

Division I

* The big game in Division I ended with a rather normal 15-9 score.  However, the match-up between last years finalists played out a bit abnormal.  Bainbridge jumped all over the Islanders in the 1st quarter and lead 9-0! However, the Spartans were flagged with a 3-minute illegal stick between periods giving the Islanders a chance to get back in it.  Mercer responded scoring 4 goals.  The rest of the game was back and forth with Bainbridge winning the remaining 2 quarters 6-5.  But the damage was done in that 1st quarter providing for the final margin.  Sam Cameron led the Spartans with 3 goals, 2 assists.

 Cascade League

*Coincidentally, with DI and DII playing very few games, the Cascade League saw its most action to date.

*The big showdown took place between the two undefeateds, Mercer Island and Port Angeles.  The Islanders came out victorious 9-7.  Chris Henderson and Alex Biller lead the Islanders with 3 goals apiece.

*Nathan Hale did not officially fold as was thought last week.  However, the Raiders withdrew themselves from playoff eligibility and as an official Cascade League member.  The program will play out its schedule as a JV team and will not be eligible for the Cascade Cup.

TOP PERFORMERS

Tom Gibbon-Senior, Attack, Curtis

Curtis has yet to truly get into the season as the Vikings have only played 4 games thus far.  However, Gibbon is up to his old tricks, already posting 19 goals in those 4 games.  A large chunk of that occurred in the latest victory.  Tom led the Vikings to a 17-5 spanking of Klahowya as he posted 7 goals, 2 assists and 9 groundballs.

Nick Tierney-Sophomore, Midfield, Issaquah

After a solid freshman year at attack, Tierney moved to the midfield to help Issaquah benefit from his speed and groundball work.  Tierney has responded with 39 groundballs to date (currently 3rd in Division II).  Still adjusting to the new position, Nicks goal scoring ability had yet to show.  This week he broke through with a huge 5 goal, 1 assist performance against Kitsap in helping Issaquah to a 13-9 victory.
