Division II

*Despite missing 5 starters due to academic probation, Curtis pulled out a huge 9-8 OT victory over Vashon clinching the #1 seed for the Vikings.  Curtis now has a 21 game winning streak.

NOTE: For statistical purposes, Division II standings have all teams listed together through sportability.com.  Realize that Division II is in fact split into 3 conferences and playoffs will be determined based on standings within these conferences.   Here are the conference standings:

Note: The second tie-breaker used (after Head-to-Head) in determining playoff seedings is Strength of Conference (Combined Conference record).  There is only one cross-conference game remaining 5/5 Franklin @ Kitsap.  If Kitsap wins, then the Olympic Conference will hold the advantage in this tie-break with a 6-4 combined cross-conference record.  If Franklin wins, then each conference would sit at 5-5 and this tie-breaker will be a non-factor.

 Clinched #1 seed in playoffs

2)

Eastside

8-1

Only loss is to Curtis.  Expected to stay as the #2 seed.

Holding on to #6, but loss to Eastside will drop Owls to #7

7)

Issaquah

6-3

One more win and an Overlake loss could push Issaquah as high as #5.

8)

Bainbridge

3-5

Despite two straight losses, schedule favors Spartans.

   8)

Kitsap

3-5

Must beat Franklin and Klahowya and the Wolves are in.

TOP PERFORMERS

Matt Haines-Junior, Attack, Nathan Hale

The Raiders started the week in do or die mode and Haines led the charge.  Matt netted one goal in a tight 5-4 win over Lakeside.   Then Haines notched 4 goals, 1 assist in a big victory over Panthers.  Matt now has 28 points (20g, 8a) in 10 league games, more than twice as many as the next closest teammate (13 pts).  He has proved to be the Raiders leader on the offensive end.

John Harty-Senior, Attack, Issaquah

Harty has been fairly consistent all year averaging just under 5 ppg.  This week Harty led an inspired Issaquah offense with 6 goals in a 12-2 win against Overlake.  John now sits in 3rd place overall amongst Division II scoring leaders with 43 pts.

Christian Lindemann-Junior, Midfield, Maple Valley

Lindemann picked a perfect week to earn his 3rd and 4th hat-tricks of the season.  In fact, his 3 goals against Port Angeles, followed by 4 goals against the Panthers marked his 3rd straight hat-trick.  He also scored 3 goals against Bellevue on 4/26.  His performances helped the Vandals earn two big wins and stay in the playoff chase.

Spencer Evans-Senior, Midfield, Bainbridge

As Bainbridge continues to play above the rest in Division I, many of the Spartans performances are probably seen as ho-hum.  However, this week, the Spartans faced a true test against Mercer Island and Evans led the way with 4 goals and 1 assist.  Headed to Denver next year, the senior has played steady all season registering 21 goals, 7 assists.

Dustin Cramer-Sophomore, Defense, Issaquah

A converted midfielder half way through last season, Cramer has developed into Issaquahs most reliable defender.  In an early season match-up with Overlake, Cramer was put to the test against one of the leagues top attackman, Charlie Kenyon.  In that contest, Kenyon got the best of the young defender scoring 6 goals.  This week, Cramer got some revenge and won the rematch in a big way.  He held Kenyon without a point!

GAMES TO WATCH (May 5- May 10)

5/6 Roughriders @ Garfield2-1, defensive, overtime thriller last time these two met.

5/7 Maple Valley @ Nathan HaleAfter this game, one team will still be alive, the other one wont.  Need any more motivation?

5/8 Panthers @ LakesideWith the Nathan Hale, Bellevue and Maple Valley chasing, the loser may find themselves out in the end.

5/8 Klahowya @ KitsapThis game is big in determining the 8th and final Division II playoff spot.
