Highlights

Division One

bullet

Games between teams in the top half of the standings have been surprisingly low scoring.  When was the last time Mercer and Bainbridge were held to 6 goals in a half, much less an entire game?  In the year of the attackmen, the defenses seem to be stepping up.

bullet

Overlake and Nathan Hale still looking for win #1 in 2002.  Fortunately for one, they play each other this Thursday and there are no ties in lacrosse.

bullet

After a quick 3-0 start, Maple Valley fell from the ranks of the unbeaten and lost two games that may prove crucial in what will most likely be a tight race for the final playoff spot in May.  Despite being behind the Vandals in the current standings, Port Angeles' 3 losses have come at the hands of the division's top 3 teams and the 12-9 victory gives them a game up in the head-to-head.

bullet

Bellevue came up huge in an early season "must-win" over Maple Valley.  The win avenges an early season loss to the Vandals and allows the Wolverines to keep pace in the playoff chase!

Division Two

bullet

The top 3 teams each scored a win and thus all three remain undefeated - Bainbridge, Eastside, Franklin.  However, Bainbridge is the only of the 3 to have a victory over the Panthers.

bullet

Maple Valley B and Vashon are still looking for win #1 in 2002.  Fortunately for one, they play each other this Saturday and there are no ties in lacrosse.   Echo? Déjà vu?  Eerie, very eerie!

Division Three

bullet

Another first!  This time it's Garfield.  The Bulldogs scored the program's first ever win with a 7-6 triumph over Mt. Ranier.  Aaron Merken, Cameron Moore and Tyler Schwartz each contributed 2 goals in the big win.

bullet

Issaquah, Port Angeles and Curtis remain undefeated; however, Curtis did not play this week and has still only played one contest.

bullet

Despite holding Issaquah to a season low 5 goals, Snohomish could only muster 2 and became the second undefeated to fall this week.

Top Performers

·        Wolverine Defense- Rob Gilmore, Dylan Larrivee, Grant Milne, Cooper Schwartz, John Thurtle and in goal, Matt Stanley.  Sure the offense scored 18 to help enact revenge against Maple Valley, but the Vandals were held to 6!  Let me repeat…6 goals!  What's the big deal?  Well, the Johnson trio from Maple Valley had accumulatively been averaging 20 points per game.  Yes, 20- TWENTY!  In the first match up, they did just that as Ryan and Nick each notched 7 points and Brian had 6.  In the rematch, Bellevue made adjustments and the Johnson's were held to 6 points collectively on 5 goals and 1 assist

·        Neal Bateman, Bainbridge Island B- Attack

After a 2-point performance in his opening game, Bateman exploded with an 8-point day in helping the Spartans to a 10-4 victory over the Roughriders.  His latest effort has placed him amongst the league leaders in Division Two as he now sits in 2nd place with 5.0 points per game.

·        Victor Rybachuk, Kitsap- Midfield

Unfortunately, Kitsap has yet to register a win this year.  Yet, it certainly doesn't seem to be a lack of effort on Victor's part.  In his last game, Rybachuk scored all 7 goals in a 7-11 loss to Bainbridge.  After three games, he ranks 2nd in Division Three in goals, with 13 and in points per game, with 4.67.

Games to Watch

4/2- Eastside @ Franklin, Battle for first in Division Two!

          4/2- Lakeside @ Mercer Island, A rematch of last year's semi-finals!

Can Lakeside hand Mercer its first "L" of the year?

4/4- Bellevue @ Lakeside, Coming off an impressive victory can the

Wolverines knock off a perennial playoff team?
