Due to the weather, a few games already had to be rescheduled and as you might guess many teams have yet to play.  Despite the unpleasant field and weather conditions, the season began just the same.  Some surprises already! We even saw lacrosse in the snow!  First time ever in Washington???  Fill us in if you have any good stories!

Highlights

bullet

Bainbridge B and Panthers renewed their rivalry.  The early season favorite

fell 6-5, but these two will be battling out all the way until late May.

bullet

Bainbridge 7, Lakeside 1. Not sure which is more surprising:

Bainbridge only netting 7 or Lakeside only netting 1

bullet

Port Angeles notched their first Division One win in style 15-3!

bullet

Bellevue 15-3!  When was the last time the Wolverines beat anybody by a dozen?

Top Performers

bulletLuke Larson, Mercer Island- Junior, Attack

If there were any questions as to who would fill the shoes of several departed big guns for the Islanders, Larson stepped up with a big answer.  His 7 goal, 2 assist performance against Port Angeles in MI’s opener was eye opening!  Larson showed it is his turn to quarterback the offense and he did so beautifully.  Larson scored 1v1, man up, off ball and even stuck a pretty behind the back finish.  Little Luke is gone…Mr. Larson is here to play!

bulletRyan Weed, Port Angeles- Senior, Attack

The move to Division One did little to derail the Riders offensive juggernaut.   Ryan started his season with a 4 goal performance in helping Port Angeles to its first ever Division One victory.  Then, despite a loss to defending champs Mercer Island, Weed and the Riders proved they belong.  Ryan notched another 4 goal performance.  Look for Weed to be amongst the league leaders all year long.

Games to Watch

bullet3/20    Snohomish @ Garfield-First official game for two new programs!!!
bullet3/21    Bainbridge @ Bellevue-Bellevue came within one goal a year ago!
bullet 3/22    Port Angeles @ Lakeside-Can the Riders knock off a top team?
