Weeks Seven and Eight:

Weeks in Review:

Spring break has come and gone and it's time for the stretch run!  After the lightest week of the season in week 7, week 8 staked claim to the busiest.

Port Angeles picked up right where it left off and showed little rust in pounding Curtis 15-2 after a two week lay-off.  The Roughriders kept it rolling with wins over Maple Valley B and Franklin to remain the lone unbeaten in the B Division.  Scott Cline appears back up to his old tricks leading Port Angeles with 12 goals in the 3 victories.

The hottest team however is the current A Division champion Spartans.  Bainbridge has rolled off an impressive 4 game streak including wins over Maple Valley and last year's three toughest opponents, Mercer Island, Eastside and Lakeside.  In doing so, the Spartans ended Lakeside's 8 game winning streak and have now pushed their own winning streak to 8 as they sit alone a top the division.  Adam Smith continues to baffle defenders and has reached the 50 point mark with 30 goals and 20 assists on the season.

Bainbridge's run has helped separate them from the rest of the pack in the A Division, while Mercer Island and Lakeside each have a pair of losses.  The tightest race appears to be for the 4th and final playoff spot.  Currently, there is a bit of a log jam as Overlake, Maple Valley, and Eastside all seem in contention.

"Game of the Week" recap:

Bellevue @ Overlake

Coming off a disappointing loss to Eastside, the Wolverine's came out fired up and seemed ready to take their first victory in two years.  Despite missing their leading scorer, Bellevue took a 4-3 lead into halftime.

Credit the Owls for keeping their composure though.  Down a few men themselves, Overlake fought back and took a 6-4 lead.  But Bellevue wasn't finished.  They cut the lead to 6-5 and then things got a little weird.  A string of  illegal stick penalties and a slash put Bellevue man-up for seemingly the last five minutes of the game.  But, Overlake's Boswell kept turning them away and Bellevue couldn't break through.  With 20 seconds left, Bellevue got the ball back with one final chance.  Overlake stiffened and Bellevue couldn't manage to get a shot off.

A heart breaking loss for Bellevue.  A big win for Overlake.  With the victory, the Owls keep pace in the race for 4th.  Bellevue's first victory is near though...beware!!!

Top Performers of the Week:

Ryan Weed, Port Angeles

  • The Roughrider's well rounded offense continues to be lead by Mr. Cline in the goal scoring department.  However, Mr. Weed continues to play a perfect complimentary role.  His consistency and big assists have been just as much a part of Port Angeles' success.  In their latest 3 triumphs, Weed has totaled 7 goals and 5 assists.

Jesse Fairbanks, Bainbridge

  • With Adam Smith garnering much attention, Fairbanks has quietly put together an excellent season of his own.  In helping Bainbridge to four big victories over the last 2 weeks he has totaled 14 goals and 5 assists.

Preview of Upcoming Week:

Just about a month left in the season and every week pick up from here on out.  Many teams play two a week for the final three weeks.  Will Bainbridge and Port Angeles waltz into the playoffs without a blemish or can someone tarnish the records?

Keep an Eye On....

Maple Valley: Vandals have lost four straight and are looking to bounce back.

Franklin vs. Panther’s: City League Championship is on the line.
