Snider Spotlight: The Challenge of Remaining Undefeated
Submitted by Walax on Wed, 2010-03-24 00:05
Welcome back to the Snider Spotlight!
The last time we talked, the Terps won a very important game against one of their ACC rivals, Duke. At times, especially after big wins like Duke, teams find it hard to stay focused for their next game. The weekend after, we played Towson, a good team but an opponent we all knew we should beat if we continued to play the way we have been. It was our first home game and it was Maryland's first game at Byrd Stadium since 2008 because the stadium was under construction last season.
Breaking In Your Stick

Every week someone has a new stick and it's normally thrust into my hands a few minutes before a game! I can't think of any heads fresh from the store that are strung to be game ready. In fact most appear to be strung in order to give lessons on unstringing! There is no absolute wrong or right way to string your head but a general rule of thumb is that if the mesh part is tied to the plastic part you're 75% done. Once you've restrung your head there are still several steps to take before it is game ready.
Stick Science: Taking Care of Your Stick
Submitted by coach kimmell on Mon, 2010-03-15 13:32With the start of a new season I have to brace myself for some horror! Each year I see sticks that haven't been touched for six months! This alone is unforgivable but not my main point of contention today. I've seen all kinds of ugliness from heads being warped because they were jammed under something at a funny angle or even cases when the mesh seemed to explode after the first catch because it had rotted out in the off season!
Snider Spotlight: Terps Prep for Georgetown

Welcome back to the Snider Spotlight!
Last time we spoke, Maryland was about to go into their first big test of the season. Georgetown vs. Maryland has always been a rivalry game because both schools reside so close to each other. After losing last year, Maryland was out for a vengeance and it was evident throughout the week during practice.

There have been points in life, specifically on the Lacrosse field where I have been a part of a team going into panic mode. This is not one of them. True we have lost three in a row, yes to at least one team we shouldn’t have and yes we should be concerned. That clearly does not constitute saying all hope is gone. Some people this week have appeared more worried than I but going through the aforementioned tribulation I believe helps to cope with a losing streak. I don’t want “De Blog” to be all about lacrosse so we can use this on any subject though I’ll pick two today, not including the Stealth. - It’s not about changing what you have, its finding what you had.
Back to Basics

After last weekend’s performance, I was embarrassed to say the least. Not a very strong showing and after digging ourselves a 1-10 hole at halftime – not much seemed bright. By far our worst outing this season and it was at home no less. Make no mistake about it; Calgary is a good team, play-off bound no doubt. In the midst of a two game, mid season skid, we try to rebound this weekend in Boston.
