My name is Taylor Wisman and I have almost finished my first year of lacrosse at Rochester Institute of Techonology Rochester, New York. We are a NCAA Division III school, currently ranked no. 2 nationally (only behind Salisbury). We currently are playing in the National tournament with the #1 seed in the North, ahead of Tufts and Cortland. Anyways, when I first started playing lacrosse here at RIT, I was instantly shocked about how fast the speed of the game was in college. I knew it would be faster, like everyone said before, but I never knew it would truly be like this. In high school I was rarely ever run by and out-ran by so many players. I knew from then on it was going to be a lot harder to get playing time then I assumed.

Hey all, I’m sorry I haven’t been able to contribute the last few weeks but I’ve been extremely busy with the end of school and lacrosse coming very quickly. I’ll just update you as best as I can. We ended the regular season 13-1 with a national ranking of #15, we dropped a heartbreaking home game to conference rival Ohio Wesleyan 6-7 at home in front of 1,000 people.

MERCER ISLAND- "The Island War".  The annual match between the most storied lacrosse programs in Washington state, Bainbridge Island and Mercer Island will take place once again this Saturday May 7.  In April 2007, U.S. Lacrosse recognized the rivalry as one, if not the most fierce on the West Coast.  In what has become a prominent event for both programs all teams from the youth to middle to high school go head-to-head all day.  

Lakeside School alumnus Sten Jernudd is fitting right in this season.  After signing with Cornell University last year the lacrosse season is well underway for the Big Red.  He is now at the bottom of the totem pole as a freshman, but the Big Red is what he calls “a big family”.  The Washington midfielder joins one of the most eclectic rosters in the nation with players hailing from California, Texas, Canada and Washington.  “It’s been cool playing with kids from so many different places.  Definitely a lot of fun and it makes you a better player,” he said.

Here we are again with another Walax Rundown. Some new shake ups with rankings, cause everyone loves a good number next to their teams.  In Division II only three teams remain undefeated, while the Metro conference has settled. In Division I, some unfortunate news with Lynnwood, as their high school season was canceled for the rest of the season. Just a little over a year ago they were a championship team in Division II, much difference a year makes. However, the season continues. Some new teams are playing well, catching the radar and should be ushering in the high octane games of late April and May.

The Bellevue Wolverines flew out on their annual Spring Break sojourn, like several Washington teams last week.  Dallas, Texas awaited the Wolverines for the second year in a row.  Three games against some of the area's top teams in Plano West, Highland Park, and Coppell would be a maturing process for the young team.

Everett, Wash. – The Washington Stealth clinched a playoff berth last weekend and currently sits in second place in the National Lacrosse League West Division.  With four games left in the regular season, the Stealth still has work to do to ensure they host a first round playoff game and a pair of wins this weekend would go a long way.  It will be no easy task however, as they face the East Division’s top two teams, the Toronto Rock (9-3) and Buffalo Bandits (8-3), on the road this weekend.
