RECAPS
5/6 – 5/7
This weekend saw a full slate of action with all 7 teams playing as the season winds down and the playoff picture starts to look clearer.
On Saturday Tentawon made the trip south to play Multnomah who had won their last 3 games. Nomah jumped on Tentawon quick with early goals from Dave Holler and Rob Huber. Multnomah was able to push their lead to 4 before Tentawon was able to make this interesting before the half scoring 2 quick goals ending the half at 6-3.
Unfortunately for Tentawon, the Nomah Defense tightened things up and shut out Tentawon in the second half. Nomah saw scoring from 5 different players and walked away with a 9-3 victory for their 4th in a row.
Coopers traveled way south to play Eugene for their final trip south. Despite Eugene having good numbers, they didn’t have the experience to hang with Coopers who put a beatdown on Eugene.
Huron played Crease Monkeys on Saturday and were looking for their 10 win and trying to keep their record perfect. However, Monkeys had different plans and pulled out a HUGE win beating Huron 5-4.
This game could be a preview of this years championship game and if it is, it could be a great game. Huron now has to recover and travel to Portland next weekend to play a Multnomah game who has won 5 straight.
Sunday saw Coopers at Multnomah on a very raining and cold day. Nomah took a quick lead and never gave it up beating Coopers for the first time since 1991.
This was a close game to the end and both teams played very hard. Nomah had 4 players with 2 goals and saw great play from the defense and keeper Kyle Mecham.
The last game of the weekend was between Bigfoot and Eugene down in Eugene. The nutria were able to score 4 goals on Foot but that would not be enough to get the victory over Bigfoot. Foot improved their record to 5-6 and looks forward to a weekend off before facing rival Multnomah on the 20th.

The 2,3, and 4 spots are still very close but Nomah might have the upper end since they have 3 games left to play all at Home. However, they will see #1 Huron and their rivals Bigfoot in those games.

You can print off the registration from the website. I am also in the process of finding host bars for Friday and Saturday night. So it would be good to get a body count soon. Other than that, good luck with the rest of your seasons and hope to see you this summer.
TOP PERFORMERS
Crease Monkeys: Way to knock off the top team and bounce back from an overtime loss
The entire Nomah Team, Nomah has won 5 games in a row and looks to keep the streak going.
Games to Watch
6/12 – Huron at Multnomah: Nomah will be looking to hand Huron their 2nd loss in a row and put them selves in a tie for 2nd place.
Overtime
As the season winds down there are a few issues that have arisen that we need to start thinking about.
First, with the shortage of refs and the fact that they might work high school, college and club in the same week and all 3 have different rules it can sometimes be confusing. I know it’s hard to teach an old dog a new trick, but maybe we should look at adopting common rules to make officiating of our games more consistent.
The second thought I have is one that comes up every year. With the number of players that are around, why can’t we develop new teams? The discussion of combining the A and B divisions is constantly brought up but I don’t think it will ever happen because of big egos. So, it is important that we encourage new players and old to develop new teams.
Hope everyone has a great week and make sure to keep your stick in the box.
