Lynnwood wins DII state title, blasts San Juan 16-7
Lynnwood and San Juan both travelled well, as Cam Girgus opens up top left, finding Trey Knowles off the crease. On the next possession, San Juan's Ryan Guard dodged from X, found Michael on the back side for a pocket goal. San Juan's second goal, came from Guard, dodging down the alley to find Dayton to polish off a second goal. At 7:09, San Juan scored their 3rd unanswered goal as Michael Ausilo, fed from Ryan Guard.
After shooting right into the stick, Trey Knowles backhands some garbage in to draw within one, 3-2 San Juan from Shawn Kim. Cam Girgus connects with his cousin Sam Girgus at 5:08 to tied it up in the first. Michael Ausilo does it again, as he finds a low and away shot to score again, to tie it up at four again.
Girgus found Hardwick for another goal. Cam Girgus fed Alex Tindall, who backdoored his man for the goal. Lynnwood takes the lead 5-4. At the end of the ifrst quarter, the physicality of the game increased. In a fairly even battle, San Juan has 3 saves to Lynnwood's 2, and 9 GBs to Lynnwood's 10. San Juan outshot San Juan by one, 11-10.
Cam Girgus continues at the helm og the Lynnwood offense shooting early and often. Trey Knowles finds Tindell alone on the crease, and he launches a skyhook for Lynnwood's 6th goal. Now leading 6-4. Cam Girgus finds a covered Nick Peters cutting through the crease as he snaps a shot under Mayer's stick to increase Lynnwood's lead, 7-4 at 6:25 with the second half. Cam Girgus again orchestrates a repeat performance for 10th goal finding Nick Peters on the crease as he tallies his second, low and away.
The third quarter opens with Ausilo winning the face-off for San Juan, and breaking for a goal, cutting the Lynnwood lead to 3. A minute later, the Cam Girgus-Nick Peters connection continues, as Girgus assists Peters for their third assisted goal in a row with 10:26 remaining. Alex Tindall takes it to Mayer solo on the next Lynnwood connection, to increase the Lynnwood lead, now 10-5. with under 9 minutes left in the third.
San Juan's Guard finds Skoog, on the crease for a back side dump, making the score 10-6 Lynnwood, with 5:38 remaining in the third. Trey Knowles follows up with a bullet inside tight in answer to San Juan. Nick peters continues his acrobatics on the crease fed from Girgus as they again connect for another Lynnwood goal, now leading 12-6 with just over 4 minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Tindall ripped n inside finisher and then scored again on the next possession, putting Lynnwood up 14-6. After a timeout, the TIgers start with possession. San Juan gets a penalty and goes man-down. Knowles rips an outside shot and scored, immediately on the next face-off Williams takes the ball down and feeds Sam Girgus as Lynnwood goes up 16-6. During the third quarter Lynnwood outshot San Juan 14-5. As the third quarter gt underway, Lynnowod decides to keep the possession and prevent San Juan from getting any touches on the ball.
However, San Juan gets a turnover and on the offensive end, Kyle Skoog takes the ball to the cage by himself for San Juan's 7th goal. At the four minute mark of the forth quarter, the Lynnwood defense does not let up. They continue to play aggressive and force turnovers. To an insult to injury the Dragons draw a late hit penalty, giving the TIgers another EMO. TIme runs out and Lynnwood takes home the DII trophy, defeating San Juan 16-7.
