Big Second Half Lifts Bainbridge Over Stadium 12-2

It was a tale of two halves at Mason Middle School Monday night in Tacoma, as Stadium went toe to toe with Bainbridge in the first half, but Bainbridge’s depth proved to be too much as they wore down an overmatched Stadium squad in the second half.

Stadium came ready to play and looked like they may stun the boys from Bainbridge when they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Martin Park.  They were able to hold that lead through the first quarter thanks to goalie Drew Thomas making some key stops and their attack’s ability to control the ball.

Bainbridge’s inability to crack Thomas and the Stadium defense continued into second quarter, but Jordan Wagner eventually got them on the board after going scoreless for over 15 minutes of game time.  Alex Crane scored his first of four goals on the night giving Bainbridge a 2-1 lead and Henry Derry-Schmitt closed out the half with a nice goal to make it 3-1 at the break.

Stadium proved it could play with the big boys in the first half, but Bainbridge picked up the tempo and methodically broke down the Stadium defense, connecting on passes just a little faster than Stadium could slide.  Derry-Schmitt opened the scoring in the second half with his second tally of the night to make it 4-1.  Alex Crane got his second of the night for Bainbridge followed by teammate Jacob Goodman to make it 6-1.  Crane finished the scoring in the third quarter with his hat trick goal making it 7-1 heading into the fourth.

Bainbridge continued to control the pace of the game and tallied five more goals in the fourth quarter as Stadium seemed to run out of gas.  Connor Cather scored the first Bainbridge goal of the quarter followed by Jacob Knostman.  Crane added his fourth of the game to make it 10-1 before Bryce Busey notched a goal for Stadium.  Kaegan Ingrasci and Jordan Wagner closed out the scoring for Bainbridge and they headed back to the island with a 12-2 win.
