Space Needle Shootout Sunday Recaps

TUKWILA, WA- Bone chilling temperatures and wind chill hit hard the last day of the Space Needle Shootout.  The championship day features the last brackets of the remaining 60 teams that attended the tournament.  Canadian teams made a strong showing Pacific Rim, New West, Victoria and South Fraser brought competitive field teams to the tournament, with some of them making all four of the championship brackets.  The tournament rules were a running clock of 25 minute halves and a three minute halftime, with one time-out per half.

U-12 Championship Bracket
The bracket featured multiple teams from Canada, a common theme throughout the tournament.  In the first semi-final game Victoria defeated Adanacs and the second saw New West defeating Langley.  The championship game featured a match-up between two Canadian teams, which resulted in a resounding victory for New West. 

U-14 Championship Bracket
In the first semi-final game Pacific Rim defeated Ridge Meadows and the second game featured New West defeating Victoria 4-2.  The championship game resulted in a low scoring contest with Pacific Rim winning the gold medal for the tournament.  Pacific Rim won the game with hard dodges from the offense that overpowered the New West defense. 

U-16 Championship Bracket
The first semi-final game had South Fraser defeating Victoria and the second Pacific Rim bested Seattle Starz Green.  The championship game began slowly with a halftime score of 3-3.  During the second half South Fraser found some fire in the cold night air and finished the game 8-3.

U-18 Championship Bracket
Victoria defeated Rockfish, MD 8-3.  The multitude of penalty time plagued the Maryland Rockfish causing Victoria to capitalize on the EMO and win the game.  In the other semi-final game the Seattle Starz Elite were defeated by Adanacs.  The game was very low scoring and the Adanacs jumped to 2-1 lead at halftime.  The game followed the same story for the rest of the second half.  When the game reached the final minute Adanacs were up 4-2, until Taylor Wisman got a nice feed from X for a time and room shot and he brought the differential to one.  However, the Seattle Starz were unable to get the tying goal in the final minutes.  The final game featured two teams that were mirror images of each other.  The game was characterized by strong play and big hits.  Victoria took home the gold medal, winning the game by a score of 4-2 all of the scoring was done in the first half of play.
