Northshore rolls on, 12-9 Over Raiders
With all the discussion about the Division II playoff structure, one of the great games we all want to watch, and instead of that being a semi-final game, it will be a first round game. Both Hale and Northshore are brimming with anticipation. Knocking out one fo the most talented teams would be the order of the day for both Hale and Northshore. Which one would it be?
Hale scored 3 in the first quarter, first from harkey and the next two from Cook, who has been the magic man this year, but Taylor Wisman would be the story from the first half. He would score three of the first four goals, the first two just 15 seconds apart. Dosset would find Hadley for the third goal, and at the end of one, Northshore would lead 4-3.
Starting the second quarter, Northshore would get on the board early with Foster wisman's score, followed by Taylor Wisman adding another. Hale would break the silence just a couple of minutes before the end of the half, as Shiplett would come around the world in front of the cage, and one hand a goal past Dransfield. Root would fire a lefty shot on the run, and with under a minute, the score would be 6-5. Dossett would polish the pipe with just 12 seconds, camped on the right side of the crease, and send Northshore into halftime with a 7-5 lead. Northshore has 22 shots, to Hale's 13. Hale will have to get some shots from their possessions to edge the difference in the second half.
Foster Wisman takes the first face off, and capitalizes with a score just one minute into the third period unassisted. Following a pair of man-down opportunities, Shiplett finishes on the cage with a set shot and the score is 9-6 with 6:29 remaining in the third. Northshore has had opportunities on the crease, and man-up opportunities, but hasn't been able to convert. Hale threatens with multiple man-up opportunities, forcing Northshore's defense to play most of the second half of the third quarter, man down. After a strong stand, Shiplett, finds an open lane pon the crease, and scores making the score 9-7 with around 2 minutes. Foster Wisman draws a couple of penalties and shoots a lefty heater up top to make the count 10-7, as Northshore threatens to the end of the quarter.
After several possessions on either side, Northshore clears the ball to Foster, who finds Hadley, who finds Dossett who finds net for number 11 for Northshore. Now benefitting from a stick penalty, Northshore owns possession for two minutes, but loses the ball in the last minute, giving Hale a break ending in a man-down goal thanks to Harvey dunking on the crease. Northshore answers back even at five men, as Dossett hits Foster Wisman for number 12, and his fourth of the night. He Raiders don't give up, working hard on EMO and Cook trickles one through Dransfield's legs for the final score of the night. Northshore wins and advances with a 12-9 tally defeating Hale in an intense game. The Wisman brothers combined for 8 goals and three assists, and Shiplett and Cook led for Hale scoring a pair each. Northshore will advance to face Stadium in the next round of the playoffs.

I sure hope they change the Playoff system for next year
And while they're at it, a divisional structure that more appropriately reflects the way Division 1 is set up, would be good.
Finally, Washington desperately needs to increase its overall competitiveness. One way to do that is to create a fluid structure that allows the better teams to automatically move up in the district hierarchy, so that they can then play with better teams. And vice versa. If you just look at the laxpower rankings (flawed, but not overly so), there are several D2 teams that should be moved up to D1, and several D1 teams that might be able to improve their programs by moving down to D2 for a bit.
Okay, while we're at it, let's throw in a Regional playoff. It would be great to see and end-of-season playoff that includes the top teams from Washington, Oregon, Utah, and Idaho. This could only benefit all four states, with the goal of bringing the NW region up to par with the other two Western powerhouses, CA and CO.
