Northshore's Last Minute Heroics Defeat Mukilteo
I don't think Northshore and their four subs had any idea what was about to happen tonight, in a non-league game between former Division II rivals, Mukilteo, and Northshore. Mukilteo was missing their top two players as well, but it would be a freshman that made the what it was tonight, not Wanzer, Linari, or the Wismans. Chas Stringfellow started in the second quarter, and stopped at the buzzer.
The first quarter showed signs this would be a good game, scoring the first two goals for each team knotting the score at 2-2.
Mukilteo would go up two goals before Northshore responded and before it said and done, Mukilteo went into their halftime discussion, leading 6-5 over a talented Northshore team. So far, the reason had been possession time, but also, taking care of the ball. Taylor Wisman has kept Northshore in the game to this point, but Freshman firepower at the hands of Mukilteo's Stringfellow would almost be too much. Mitchell Beck would also knock on the door, scoring 2 goals and 2 assists, helping a strong 3rd quarter surge of four goals, as did Stringfellow. At the end of three, Northshore trailed 10-8, and Mukilteo was feeling upset.
Starting the fourth quarter, Mukilteo suffered a 3-minute stick penalty, and gave Northshore needed life to make a run for the end. Unable to score on that penalty, spoke to the color of the game for Northshore who scored 3 points in the third.
The fourth quarter was a complete roll reversal. Northshore's poise and Wisman brothers, accounted for another goal from Taylor Wisman, and Stringfellow countered with another shot off the dodge. Felling the pressure to score, with 3:02, he tied the game soloing shot on the run, and finish, but Foster Wisman would again answer the call. With a minute left to play before overtime, he stepped up and found net to go ahead of the Knights with 1:02 left on the team. Mukilteo would get one more chance, through a failed clear, but would not capitalize in time, giving a well-fought win to the Northshore team. Final score 12-11 Northshore
Top Scorers: Chas Stringfellow 5g1a, Taylor Wisman 4g1a along with 14 ground balls, Foster Wisman 3g1a. Tommy Hodges did a great job facing off for Mukilteo as well.
