Bainbridge Handles Prep - Focused on Curtis
The Bainbridge Spartans would use a variety of offensive weapons and a dominating defensive performance Tuesday afternoon in taking care of the Seattle Prep Panthers 16-2. Bainbridge would see early scoring from Henry Derry Schmitt, Jordan Wagner and go to man Sam Snow to build a 6-2 halftime lead. Photos courtesy of Anne McGuire
Lone goals from Alexander Vincent and David Shoettler would be all the scoring that Panther fans would see. Not that they didn’t have their chances, finishing the play seemed to be the problem. Prep would create some quality scoring chances in the second and third quarter on a great man-up play but fail to convert. A few dropped passes inside and some inconsistent clearing made it hard to get anything rolling.
Shoettler was able to control some face-offs for Prep which has not been an easy task for opponents facing Dugan McDermott. The Long pole face off/ defensemen made a strong case for why he is one of the more versatile players in the state collecting 11 groundballs total yesterday along with a shut out second half.
Leading the in the shot column 21 -10 Bainbridge would continue its onslaught into the second half as Sam Snow would score his 3rd and 4th goals becoming the games leading scorer followed closely by Henry Derry-Schmitt who would net three on the day.
Henrys brother and senior Sam would also see some action scoring two late goals one, which was a blistering shot from just under the restraining line. Cameron Parker, Bjorn Ostenson and senior captain Kevin Nguyen would all score before all was said and done. Final Score 16-2 Bainbridge over Seattle Prep. The Spartans battle Curtis high school this Friday @ Bainbridge in a huge showdown in DI. Both teams hold a 9-2 record and are currently tied for 3rd place.
