Bainbridge Explodes Vultures in Undefeated Island Battle

If you weren't raised here in the Northwest, something surprising would be the number of Lacrosse teams that come from Islands. In division 1, currently, three of the teams are from an island, all three are undefeated.  Tonight the Vultures will match up against Bainbridge, on one of the only natural grass fields left at a division 1 school.  Two years ago, Bainbridge nearly lost at Vashon to ruin their perfect season, will the Vultures spoil a very solid Spartan team?

Nguyen scores unassisted inside the first two minutes, and follows his first with an assist to Snow who buries one bouncing from up top. Snow again burns one past Richardson, with 13 seconds remaining and now Vashon trails by three at the end of one.  Bainbridge has controlled possession and opportunities.
Vashon scores an inspired goal as Loraas finally gets a good shot, and scores, over Stevenson, and on the ensuing face-off, a technical gives the ball to Vashon, scoring in the confusion. With 6:30, the score was 3-2. Two possessions later, and Vashon scores again with under five minutes in the half to tie the score up at three.

Every time I come to Vashon, this Lacrosse field comes to life.  The first game I coached here in Seattle was at Vashon, and nothing happened as planned.  Instead of the same parity from the first half, Bainbridge goes super nova.  Just like that, what seemed an even game, turns into two points for Bainbridge as Wagner snipes net in the first minute. Following that goal, Snow breaks a clear, and Wagner gets an open cage to take a 5-3 lead.  Ostenson would score next, and the fabric is unraveling for Vashon.  Goodman finishes an Ostenson feed, Parker rips one from up top, and Snow pays for a crease finish to make it 9-3 just like that. The coffin nail was struck as Knight finishes number 7 with 11 seconds in the third quarter  Bainbridge erupted in the third with 7 unanswered goals blowing a close game wide open.

Nguyen scores working hard on the crease, and the bleeding just won't stop.  Deery-Schmidt pops in a goal on the crease, as Vashon surrenders another goal inside.  Snow adds another, followed by another snow give and go, now leading 13-3 with 9:48 remaining. Bowers scores for vashon, followed by a goodman goal fed by Snow.  Bainbridge has caused complete meltdown for the Vultures, now trailing 15-4. Deery-schmidt scores another, and Loraas bookends the scoring for Vashon finishing 16-5 final on the Island. This weekend, the Big Island Battle for the final two undefeated island teams, MI and BI.

Snow delivers another stellar performance with 5g3a, Nguyen and Snow each  2g1a solid performance from bainbridge on both sides of the ball neutralizing Davidheiser and Bowers. Loraas led Vashon with two goals.
