Bainbridge Drops Eastlake, No Coaches on Sideline
Strange for me to show up to a High School game, and not see both teams coaches on their respective sidelines as play begins. Eastlake is missing several starters due to injury and Coach Langhorst, while Bainbridge missing Both Coach Visco and Hush, seems an interesting commonality given they are at opposite of the spectrum of the Division I rankings.
Bainbridge started the game in the same fashion, executing their run and gun offense right from the face-off against Eastlake. The Wolves, despite being short-handed, struggled to match ability with the talent from the Island from the start. Bainbridge began scoring in the first quarter, and never looked back. At the end of the first quarter, the possession time and scoreboard would show Bainbridge in decisive control, leading 7-0.
The second quarter, would see the Spartan lead grow to 12, though Eastlake would score a lone goal from a great endline inbounds play. The Keogh-Clinch connection would connect again one other time in the game, entering halftime down 12-1.
Normally, at halftime, head coaches analyze, assess, and correct fundamental problems with a team performance. They might make adjustments, put a new wrinkle in, or help a couple players correct their performance while they still have an opportunity to apply the criticism to the situan. Not tonight, ten minutes of halftime would reel off, followed by another half, of exactly the same Lacrosse we just watched.
The third quarter started off with a goal from the opening face-off by McDermott, facing off with his pole. Running clock ensued as BI amassed another 3 points to make the tally 15-1 by the end of the third period. Clinch and Keogh trade places this time as Keogh scores a single goal agianst the younger BI players, with a final goal scored by Snow to end the competition at 16-2.
Bainbridge performers included Sam Snow, 3g 3a who is third in the league after just three games, Kevin Nguyen, who has become an offensive weapon this year with 3g, and Jordan Wagner, also earning a hat trick. Kudos to Eastlake for playing hard throughout the contest, and to Clinch and Keogh for their 1 and 1 performances.
